Sharing the Gospel

theology

When talking about God, there are two fundamental issues:

  1. One opinion is no better than another's. You need an authority - the Bible.
2 Timothy 3:16 claims, "All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;
" Additionally, Deuteronomy 4:2 "You shall not add to the word which I am commanding you, nor take away from it, that you may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you."
and Revelation 22:18 command us "...not to add to or subtract from the Bible..."I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues which are written in this book." Therefore, God claims to have written the Bible and instructs us not to add or delete from it.

2.  Salvation is through the Holy Spirit and the Word, not our debating skills.

Romans 10:17 "So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ."

Some of the common objections to the gospel:

There are many gods.

No - there is only one God - 1 Timothy 2:5-6 "there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus..." In John 10:30, Jesus claims to be God - "The Father and I are one."

There are many gods, just different names.

No - Exodus 20:3 "You shall have no other gods before me." Other gods are actually demons - 1 Corinthians 10:20 "[No], but [I say] that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons and not to God; and I do not want you to become sharers in demons. "

There are many ways to salvation.

No - John 14:6 "Jesus said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." And Matthew 7:14, Christ states, “For the gate is small, and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it." Not everyone goes to Heaven.

Everyone goes to Heaven.

No - In John 3:3, Christ states, "...unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God." And then, in John 3:18, "Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God."

Unless saved, all men are condemned to hell?

Yes - Romans 3:23 says, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Further, Romans 6:23 states, “For the wages of sin is death but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
So there is eternal punishment (hell) and an eternal reward (heaven) as Matthew 25:46 claims …they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”

What is the gospel of salvation?

Simply stated - repent of your sins (turn away from sin) and believe (faith) in Christ (turn towards God in faith). Romans 10:9 says, "...if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." Mark 1:15 "...the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel." 2 Chronicles 7:14 "If my people...humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. Finally, Ephesians 2:8-9 "...by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works so that no one may boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them. "
