Should Christians Judge?

Non-believers often rely on the Bible when it suits their narrative. "Judge not," but is that true? Here's what the Bible says.

It is interesting when non-believers quote the Bible. One of their favorite verses is Matthew 7:1 “Do not judge, or you too will be judged.

Such a popular retort. How dare you judge me? Yet, the Bible clearly teaches we are to judge with “righteous judgment.”

John 7:24 “Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.”

So what’s the difference?

In Matthew, Christ is teaching that we are not to be hypocrites. This is exactly what we are now seeing in the world. Racists are calling everyone else racists. It’s hypocritical and is exactly what Christ warns against. Yet if enough hypocrites judge and judge repeatedly, the world tends to convert lies into truth.

That’s only because the world lacks true discernment. But that will come.

1 Peter 4:5 states, “they will give account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.”

A time is coming with God will judge with true justice, and no amount of mob conformity will prevail.

We can only pray, “come quickly, Lord Jesus” (Rev 22:20).
